A necktie is not only an accessory but the most important part of a suit. If you are attending a formal event, your suit will seem incomplete without a tie. Neckties have many styles in different colors and the necktie materials are mainly in silk or polyester. The selected ties should be matched with shirts and suits. At present, the colors of most suits are gray, dark gray, blue, black, and brown so the appropriate colors of neckties should be dark red, purple, coffee brown, or other warm colors. Medium light color neckties suit a person with a dark complexion, but neckties in dark or very light colors do not. In general, the match between a suit and a necktie should have layer feel. If light color suits with dark color neckties or dark suits with light color neckties, both ways look good. You should match the width of your necktie with the width of the collar on your suit or shirt. It is good fashion sense to wear a wide tie when your shirt collar is large and pointed and to wear a narrow tie when your suit collar is small.

You must pay attention if the colors of neckties, shirts, and suits match. For a better look, try to stick with two or three colors to accomplish the best look. For example, you can pair a navy suit with a blue shirt and azure necktie, the tie can even have accents of red or white stripes or patterns. Usually, the beige or gray light colored suits are suitable for the neckties in red, brown, or other warm color and the light colored shirts in beige, or light gray; the blue or navy suits in dark colors are good to go with the neckties in cool colors, such as blue or gray neckties with azure or pink shirts. When you wear a dark suit, it will look best if your shirt is a light color and your tie a dark one. When you wear a suit such as a light grey one, a light colored necktie is suitable.

You should match the color of your tie with the event. For instance you should wear bright ties for happy things, and darker ties for more solemn events. These are specific guidelines to follow when finding a tie to match a suit. Neckties with stripe patterns are divided into two styles: British and American. The direction of the tie diagonal stripe defines the geographic style: a British pattern calls for a diagonal from the top right to the lower left, while an American pattern is the reverse. In general, the suits of British or French style should go with British style neckties and the American or Italian suits must go with American style ties. Since the necktie is an important male specific accessory, the choice of tie can often reflect a person’s psychological characteristics. A short tie with a large knot indicates the strong confidence of a man; A tie with a too tight or too small knot demonstrates the characteristics of self-abased. Because of this, neckties should be loosely tied.

Tying neckties can be tricky and there are tips for it. You don’t need to turn over your collar to wear a tie with a tip. First, make sure you button your shirt and allow the necktie to hang outside of the collar; then, tightly hold the wide end snug beneath the collar and pull hard on the opposite end until the necktie is tightly snug within the middle of the collar. If your necktie is tied well, both ends should be drooping naturally with the wide end upon the narrow one and the appropriate length is that the tie tip is right on the waist line. When wearing a suit, one’s tie should be tucked into an accompanying sweater or vest.

So What’s Changed?

The child safety harness on these two Kelty Child Carriers is definitely an improvement. You now have buckles at the chest that allow you to unclasp the shoulder straps, and easy-access leg loops that buckle over the legs. In other words, you no longer have to feed little arms and legs through small openings. Both the Pathfinder 3.0 and Journey 2.0 Kelty Child Carriers also offer hydration pack storage behind the back panel, as well as an easy access water bottle pocket located on the waist belt. The storage capacity is pretty much the same, except that the Pathfinder 3.0 Kelty Child Carrier now offers a zip off day pack with two zippered pockets of its own, as well as two mesh water bottle pockets on the sides.

How Much Do They Cost?

With all the added features you’d expect a much higher price tag, but that’s the thing, these two new Kelty Child Carriers are about the same price as the old ones. They cost roughly $30 dollars more than the previous models, depending on where you get them. Now the Pathfinder 3.0 Kelty Child Carrier does cost about $50 dollars more than the Journey 2.0, but that’s because you get the zip-off day pack as well.

This is a highly debatable subject and although it is not considered to be the cause of eating disorders, media is often viewed as a contributing factor, especially amongst adolescent girls, who view the size and shape of models and actresses, as ideal body image.

Adolescents, who have an eating disorder, often have a distorted body image to begin with. They’re often over critical and ruthless in their self-evaluation, in terms of their body shape and weight. Through the medium of magazines and film, current trends pertaining to body image, or rather society’s image of the body, a person with an eating disorder feels that their own personal body, does not measure up to what is portrayed within the media and ideal or beautiful.

Unfortunately for the past decade, the fashion industry, while admittedly being at the mercy of advertisers,’ has used ultra thin, nearly skeletal looking models. The entire waif look has graced the pages of magazines and film, unfortunately for a person with a non- healthy body image and lack of self-esteem, striving to achieve what society has deemed beautiful, becomes an obsession.

The trend within the fashion industry is beginning to change, most notably in Milan, which have recently refused to allow underweight models to grace their notorious runways. Not all within the fashion industry are so willing to take a stand, they are in business to sell and that if the advertisers’ wants to use all too thin models, then that’s what they will have a gracing their magazines pages.

Although this trend is moving towards the use of healthy sized models, it may help to change society’s ideal on what a women’s shape should be. Some argue that it is much too easy to blame the fashion industry, when in reality eating disorders are at least initially a mental issue of the individual and their own idea of body image.

The debate is far from over and even with the strides that the few within the fashion industry has made, in the attempt to change society’s concept of what an ideal shape should be it is a task that will surely take decades to rectify. Society has a tendency to resist change, even more so if the media’s slow to change with it.

One of the warning signs of an eating disorder is the obsession with all too thin models and actresses. A person who suffers from an eating disorder often has many pictures of excessively thin people, strategically placed normally around mirrors or close to food sources. Generally, these pictures are used to remind the person suffering from an eating disorder of what they want to look like and it is used as a deterrent to eat or as motivation to exercise more.

WHAT MAKES THE PERFECT MODERN TIE LOOK?

The problem with fashion is that there are no rules; only opinions usually derived from our experiences of what we believe should look good and fashionable. The ‘opinions’ of our label is what you will find here and whilst fashion changes, so may our ‘opinions’. All this said, the following is a guide to what Distino currently believe makes the perfect modern tie look.

The 10 tie fashion rules to swear by:

1. Learn to tie the perfect Windsor knot as it is clearly the most important step in creating the perfect tie look. Almost any tie will look good if tied correctly…..although Distino ties will look the best.

2. Whilst many men are wearing stripe ties with checked shirts and visa versa, Distino believe that this is hard to pull off and get right. Stay clear of this look……wear checked ties with checked or plain shirts and striped ties with striped or plain shirts. You can’t go wrong with this…..for now.

3. Generally speaking, for shirts and ties to work well together you need to have some of the same colours or shades from the tie in the shirt. This rule does not apply for plain white shirts. You can get away with just about any colour tie with a plain white shirt. E.g. Don’t wear your favourite purple tie with your light blue shirt….even if you’re wife tells you it looks good.

4. Be bold when buying for yourself…even if you’re not a bold person. Great comments will come with all Distino silk ties, although you will get even more if your tie stands out from the crowd.

5. Choose a tie by occasion. E.g. don’t wear your pure white silk tie to work (it may not make it home).

6. Choose a great looking pair of cufflinks to either match the tie in colour (as with our full collection) or to match the shirt or suit patterns you plan to wear.

7. Get the length of your tie right. This comes back to tying the knot well – which will come with practice. Aim for the tip of the tie to finish just on your belt line.

8. Keep your tie in good presentable condition. Yes, Distino silk ties can be dry cleaned and keep well after being dry cleaned.

9. Store your ties carefully. If you’re lazy, keep the the knot tied and hang it over the neck of a coat hanger in the wardrobe. Your ties will be stored without creasing and you only need to tie the perfect Windsor knot once!

10. When buying a silk tie from the Distino collection as a gift, play it safe if you don’t know the fashion habits of the wearer. We would suggest something along the lines of No.’s 32, 17 or 35 – blue shades or a classy green as opposed to the aquas or burnt oranges of No.’s 36 and 12.
